It's been a bittersweet pleasure this past week, working on the pieces to send to London. It's an exciting task but the loss of Sophie has tempered it. But, six pieces are almost done, which is a good thing since they must dry, be varnished, and dry again in time to ship on Thursday!

    There is a beautiful, warm melancholy to this painting. I feel that Sophie's presence is there.

    Hi Deborah,
    I am a landscape painter who came across your paintings while surfing the web I have found them to be inspirational & beautiful. I wanted to pass my condolences to you on the loss of Sophie. Dogs are very special animals that touch our lifes in so many ways. Even though the dog that I grew up with is physically long gone he still remains alive in my memories.The painting Twilight Wood has a feeling of melancholy but because of the warmth that is present it is not depressing . I wish you much success with your exhibition. Even with the economic situation art that speaks to the heart will always find a home.

    Loriann and NJ Art 73- interesting that you both used the word melancholy- I always think that is an apt description of some of my work but it seems to have a negative connotation to some. I really appreciate the comment that the warmth in the piece makes it not depressing. Thanks so much for you kind words about Sophie too.

    Hi Jala- thank you! I use Gamvar and usually if I put it on pretty thin I can get it dry in one day.

    Hi Cooper- "Light through stained glass" - I love that- I may have to steal it...:)
