For some reason I am not able to download images from my digital camera to the computer. Keep getting some error message about a power surge on the port, so I am hoping its a problem with the USB cable, as the port seems to be working otherwise. Got a new cable ordered today, and since it will be a while before it gets out here to the boonies, I am posting a piece I painted last year at the Telluride show.
Don't know about 'neo-romantic'...but I do know that these colors say 'nocturn' in an eloquent way! Love it.

Wow..I love visiting your blog..I'm going to throw this out there and I'm not joking..I think you are one of the most gifted landscape painters alive...these are absolutely stunning and continue to give me chills each time I visit. I can't believe how fast you paint them too and on that grand scale...good for you.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Todd
Dunno what neo-romantic is but your paintings always seem so strong to me Deborah. The colours here are absolutely stunning. Sorry about the cable. I just suffered a similar thing - took 2 weeks for the new one to arrive and then it didn't work!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dean. I think this is one of my more successful nocturnes. I'm glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteWow back, Todd! Now I know where to go when I need an ego boost-seriously, thank you for your incredibly generous comments.
Hi Sheila- I like the colors too- used viridian (hard to control)and prussian blue (even harder to control). Glad you like it. I am hoping my cable problems will be solved soon!
"New-Romantic"? Didn't know it was knew. Romanticism has been ever-present, at least since the Renaissance. Whatever it is, it works for me!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Telluride!
It is as beautiful as night can get. Wonderful. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Ed!
ReplyDeleteThank you Indiaartist- I am glad you like it!
Great work! I too love nocturnes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alexandre!
ReplyDeleteNeo or not, it's a great painting!
ReplyDeleteHi Bill and welcome! Thanks for visiting. Just visited your blog and enjoyed seeing your work- love the quote by Churchill. His Painting as a Pastime is a great little book have you read it?
ReplyDeleteYes, I do have that book, inherited it from my father-in-law, but have never read it. It is on my desk right now and is next in line as soon as I finish the book I am reading. Churchill is one of my favorite people of all time. I have visited his beloved home, Chartwell, in Kent. It is a wonderful place. And it was a real thrill to go into his art studio and see a number of his paintings there, and his brushes and smock. If you ever get a chance, check it out.
ReplyDeleteI love your work, and am very envious of your studio. Looks like a great place to work.
Great painting, 2 of my favourite themes, nocturne and landscape edges.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon. I am great fan of your work so its a wonderful compliment coming from you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment, considering your work I am pretty gobsmacked. I was looked up your watched blogs to see who you could recommend, then I saw my name, very weird. Well I see Sheila Vaughn frequents this site, so fools seldom differ etc....
ReplyDeleteHi Simon- I'll add you to the links the next time I update. And BTW, what exactly is gobsmacked?
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah, gobsmacked means "flabbergasted, astounded, shocked " sorry it later occurred to me that this was a bit parochial.
