Every once in a while you have to shut down and reboot your artistic energy . I've just come off an intense three months in which I completed almost 40 paintings for various shows and events. Although I have a solo show coming up in February at M Gallery in Sarasota, this week I just couldn't pick up a brush. Instead, I made a series of charcoal drawings- some studies for paintings I have in mind to do for the show and some simply for pleasure. I feel better already!

    Wow, this is so Rembrandt. Not in mark quality but in feel and composition!

    Hi Deborah, these charcoals are beautiful and you know when i am upset with my oils i turn to charcoals: they are the chicken soup of art and the harmless forgiving teddy bear:)))

    Nice drawing. Not surprisingly, it has the ethereal quality of your paintings.

    I've been thinking about breaking out he charcoal myself. Like getting back to basics. The simplicity, working with value and texture alone would be refreshing.
