The Magic Panel & A New Gallery

Sunset Pool; Oil 20 x 24
Available at Hildt Galleries, Chicago
Sold
Thanks to everyone who commented or emailed me about making painting panels. I really appreciate all the good information I received. I also tracked down the artist who made the one I found in my studio - which we now refer to as the magic panel -and got her "recipe" for silky smooth panels on birch plywood. So I am making panels this weekend and also plan to try a couple of the commercially prepared ones recommended by several of you who contacted me.

I'm happy to say I am now represented by Hildt Galleries in Chicago. They sell 19th and early 20th century art as well as represent a small group of contemporary artists.

Hi Deborah,
wonderful landscape again - so full of warm light. Congratulations on your new gallery. Your work fits so very well into their genre of the 19th century. Each time I look at your work I am amazed how so few brushstrokes can have such an impact on the eye which interprets these landscapes as a voluptious experience of hues, light and darkness.

Hi Petra. Thank you very much- I do try to take a "less is more" approach in both concept and execution. Thanks
for visiting!

Congratulations on the new gallery Deborah. I hope it brings you even more exposure and sales. The new panel seems to give even more luminosity to your work. I think it's good to change painting support now and again anyway. If you don't try you won't know!
